One Line a Day guide
30 one line a day journal prompts
When you do not know what to record, one good question can reveal the detail worth keeping. Pick just one and answer it in a sentence.
You do not need to use these in order. Return whenever a day feels too ordinary—or too full—to summarize.

- What surprised you today?
- Which conversation will you remember?
- What did you learn?
- What made you laugh?
- Which sound or smell defined the day?
- What are you proud of?
- What felt difficult?
- Who did you miss?
- Which decision did you make?
- Which place did you see differently?
- What small pleasure did you enjoy?
- What would you tell your future self?
- Which piece of news shaped the day?
- What did you leave for tomorrow?
- Who helped you?
- Which meal will you remember?
- What brought you calm?

- What was the most beautiful moment?
- What do you need to let go?
- What did you do for the first time?
- Which song fits today?

- Which plan excites you?
- What were you grateful for?

How to use these prompts
Choose the question that creates an immediate image. Avoid answering with one word; add the detail that locates the memory. Instead of “calm,” try “I walked home without headphones and finally noticed the quiet.”
